Cohorted Beauty Box March 2019 – Unboxing and Product Reviews

Last beauty box of March, another month of beauty boxes down! With a strong Look Fantastic but a weak Glossybox this month, Cohorted was almost set to be mediocre. But, it wasn’t!

The Cohorted box was as always the standard black, square box that closes magnetically and ties with a ribbon. The box also came with its monthly, small beauty magazine (about 30 pages) that tells you a little bit more about each product and some featured products or artists. Cohorted doesn’t usually follow a theme.

Cohorted March 2019 contained 8 products, from left to right as seen in the picture: a face mask, an eyeshadow palette, a scalp treatment, bath salts, a face cleanser, sunscreen, a lip gloss and an eye liner.

Let’s have a look at the products in more detail. These are short reviews that cover first impressions and experiences from using the products. For full reviews, including ingredient analysis and if I would recommend a product or not, check out: Bonds of Beauty (all articles here). Bear in mind that these are my personal opinions and that beauty is a very personal thing, we all have different skin, requirements and biological build which can influence things. What worked for me might not work for you and vice versa, please leave your comments below!

OH K! Gold Foil Mask

This foil mask might sound different but it’s like any other mask. All you need to do is place is on clean skin for 10-20 minutes and then remove. No need to rinse.

It feels nice and leaves the skin soft. It contains some interesting ingredients but like any face mask, it’s not going to be the skincare breakthrough you are looking for.

The packaging is cute and this is a full size mask containing 35mL. Sadly though, it retails for £10 which is way too expensive. SCORE = 7/10

Zoeva Eyeshadow Palette in Cocoa Blend

Well who doesn’t love an eye shadow palette, especially one that looks like a chocolate wrapper!

This eye shadow palette contains 10 beautiful colours of which 6 are shimmers, one is a matte with glitter and the rest 3 are matte. There is a bone colour and a dark brown for shadowing and lots of options for in-between. It’s so gorgeous to look at and it makes me excited to create.

The shadows work well, stay all day and don’t crease if you were an eyeshadow primer. This is a full size palette that contains 10 x 1.5g shadows, lasts for 24M and retails for just £18. SCORE = 9/10

Grow Gorgeous Scalp Detox

I’ve tried this product a couple of times now, from beauty boxes and advent calendars. Although I really liked it and the experience was overall pleasant, I couldn’t really tell a difference on my hair or scalp (although that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t work), so I still never considered purchasing it.

Nevertheless, this product smells gorgeous! It has a strong sweet, cosmetic smell mixed with feminine perfume. I almost wish they make a perfume out of it!

You are meant to use it as a pre-wash treatment on your scalp, 1-2 times a week. It is meant to cleanse and unclog blocked pores that might disrupt hair and scalp health. It doesn’t foam up, so you end up using a lot until you are sure all of your scalp is cleansed but at least you don’t need to wait around like a hair mask, you can rinse it off immediately if you prefer. Lots of points from me there, I hate waiting around the shower for hair masks!

The tube looks and feels luxurious and it contains a fair amount of good ingredients, a lot more than I would expect for its price!

This product is paraben free, lasts for 12M and the 50mL mini retails for £7.37 (lasts 3-4 uses). The full size 190mL retails for £28. SCORE = 8/10

Verdant Alchemy Breathe in Bath Salts

These bath salts are quite relaxing and they smell gorgeous of eucalyptus and lemon.

The packaging is cute and resealable. The product is 100% natural, vegan friendly and cruelty free.

There isn’t that much to say about these other than they can create a very pleasant bath experience.

This product lasts for 6M and retails for £12. SCORE = 7/10

Drunk Elephant Beste Jelly Cleanser

This cleanser not only comes from a cute named cosmetic company but it feels elegant and fresh.

The packaging is simple but with a twist. Instead of unscrewing the lid you twist it open and the product comes out of the whole in the lid, see picture. It feels new, different and progressive.

The cleanser is a colourless gel with almost not scent at all. It foams a tiny bit to create a milky lather and cleanses the skin nicely as it doesn’t dry it out but rather leaves it feeling moisturised. It takes away makeup and dirt and overall gives a pleasant experience.

This product lasts for 12M and is a travel size, 30mL. A full size, 150mL, retails for £24. SCORE = 8/10

Drunk Elephant Sheer Physical Daily Defence SPF30

This sunscreen contains 20% Zinc Oxide and spreads on the skin easily. It leaves a slight white shade behind which wouldn’t matter at all if you were it under makeup.

It might not feel like the product to be thinking about right now, but spring is upon us and SPF is a must at all times.

This product works well and is an extra as it’s not even listed in the Cohorted beauty magazine.

It’s a travel size tube containing 15mL and lasts for 12M. This is a free sample as indicated by the “not for individual sale” statement at the back but the full size 90mL retails for £26. SCORE = 7/10

Ciaté Liquid Chrome in Nova

This is a very beautiful gloss with a copper-gold metallic colour. It comes off when eating and drinking, like any gloss, but it will elevate your look to a higher level and might just be worth it.

The wand and packaging are standard but the product works well. It might not be a colour that will easily go with everything but it is unique and stands out.

This is a full size lip gloss, 3mL, which lasts for 36M. It is also cruelty free. SCORE = 8/10

Ciaté Wonderland Gel Kohl Liner in Pewter

This is a very cute looking liner. I love that it’s entirely covered with a protective lid, even if it becomes annoying as the pencil gets smaller.

It writes beautifully to give a grey colour with shiny bits in it and it smudges to give effortless smokeyness. I’m not sure that the brush on the other side of the pencil works for this product, it might have been better to have a sponge type end, although the brush does work well.

It’s a pencil that stands out and works well. It could be all you need to turn a day look to a night one! SCORE = 9/10

Cohorted March 2019 3_20190318102951749_20190318104035705

Overall, this month’s Cohorted was great. There were some big wow items but also some smaller ones to try out. The luxury and wow factor were there, even if the box wasn’t actually of as high value as it is usually.

Initial box score, in terms of products and first feelings = 9/10

Overall box score after product testing (average of product scores) = 7.9/10

Star product = Zoeva Eyeshadow Palette in Cocoa Blend
