Triyit Discovery Club April 2020 – Unboxing and Product Reviews

Time for another Triyit box!

Triyit is a UK product discovery club that allows you to try new products, at home, for free!

All you need to do is go to www.triyit.co.uk and create a personal profile, where you can tell them about your likes and dislikes, personal habits, like exercising, or what type of food you like etc. Then, every now and again you will receive a free box with some goodies in it, that match some part of your profile.

After you qualify for a box, Triyit will even send you a text message and email to let you know that there are some goodies on the way to you. However, you won’t know what the box contains until you actually open it, which brings an element of excitement too.

The products contained in the box are usually full size. All of this is completely free and all they ask in return is that you share your reviews and pictures on social media in order to further qualify for more boxes. The more you share the more priority points you gain and the higher your chances to receive another box next time.

Let’s get to this box and have a look at the products in more detail. These are short reviews that cover first impressions and experiences from using the products. Bear in mind that these are my personal opinions, what worked for me might not work for you and vice versa, please leave your comments below!

The Triyit box used to come in a nice shade of orange but this time it was a colourless cardboard box. Still has the logo and some patterned design on it but I must say I liked the old, colourfull one better!

Inside the box there is a specific campaign booklet that contains more information about the products and a reminder leaflet to share pictures and reviews.

The box contained 6 food and drink consumable products from different brands. Let’s have a look at the products individually.

Jack Link’s Beef Jerky Sweet & Sour

I love Jerky, it’s an easy way to get in some protein on the go. The only thing I usually don’t like is how dry and chewy the pieces are but not with this one! It was gorgeously moist and flavoured very nicely. It was sweet but still quite spicy and even though I am really, really not a fan of spicy I just kept trying to eat this!

The pieces were also lean and visually beautiful. Love this Jerky!

So much healthier and more balanced than normal snack bars. Very nice snack. Even the quality and presentation of the packaging is nice.

My only compaint would be that it doesn’t look like there’s much in the bag, I almost felt compelled to weigh if it was actually 25g. This snack costs £1.50. SCORE = 9/10

Flyte Clean Energy Drink in Red Berries Flavour

This energy drink has a sweet berry-like flavour and is easy to drink. It contains green coffee, maca and schizandra.

A 250mL can contains 30kcal and 5.75g of sugar. It also contains 76mg of caffeine, 50mg of vitamin C and 42mg of vitamins B.

Overall, this is a pleasant energy drink. My only issue is with the “organic caffeine” label. There is no concluding scientific proof that organic is healthier for you, so I disagree with any brands in general who benefit financially from such labels when there is no scientific consensus. It is of course up to the consumer to educate themselfs but you can’t deny that this label is marketed with certain meaning and assumptions in mind. Anyhow, this is an issue for how the law should protect consumers better. For more info on organic check out: Organic food and farming – Scientific evidence, problems and ethical dilemmas

One 250mL can retails for £1.50. SCORE = 7/10

Wier’do Pop in Sweet and Salty & Tomato Salsa

I love my sweet and sour popcorn so I was very excited to try this! Sadly, it was just a dissapointment for me.

20200411_101608

As soon as I opened the bag the popcorn almost looked like it was off with lot’s of strange black dots all over, see picture below, but it still smelled like normal popcorn. I tried one and it had a fishy after taste so I was completely put off.

I then started reading the label and realised that they sweetened the popcron using seaweed so it all made sense.

I don’t like the idea and I don’t like the “wierdo popcorn” branding either. Why would I want to eat wierd stuff? The branding doesn’t help me want to buy this and the visual presentation plus taste was the final blow for me.

I am half Dutch so even if this product (which was made by Dutchies) was based on taste and culture differences I would have expected to still get it. I just don’t.

Strangely, even though I am not a spicy fan, I though that the salsa one was much better. Both visually and taste-wise. For this one my problem is simply that I like my popcorn…SWEET AND SOUR not spicy!

It’s 100kcal per 18g bag which is not too bad and both are gluten free and vegan. Couldn’t find out how much this costs, perhaps it’s a new product. SCORE = 5/10

Amarula Cream & Marula Fruit Liquer

Gorgeous. Just what I needed. This is very similar to Baileys and I loved it. The only complaint I have is..why so small?! This sort of liquer is also lovely in cold coffee. SCORE = 9/10

Beanies Flavour Coffee with Hazelnut

This product comes in satchels that contain flavoured coffee and milk proteins. So essentially, this is meant to be an all rounded drink without having to add milk or sugar, just water.

One 7.2g satchel contains 35 kcals, 1.8g fat, 4.2g carbs, 0.4g fibre, 0.4g protein and 0.03g of salt. It’s a drink so don’t expect ti to be particularly nutritious, I do like how low kcal it is though and how quickly the powder dissolves.

20200411_101553

The drink tasted indeed like hazelnut coffee. The only thing I didn’t like is how thin the drink is. I usually drink my coffee or hot chocolate with milk so if you make this one with water only, it tastes a bit watery. You can ofcourse add milk but then it won’t be 35kcals!

This brand does a lot of different flavoured instant coffee. I’d much prefer to try that. Very curious…Couldn’t find a reliable price source for this but judging from their other products should be around or less than £2.50. SCORE = 8/10

Overall, I really enjoyed trying out the products in this box. I love Triyit and their concept and it helps both consumers and sellers. We are moving towards an era where you wouldn’t purchase before trying and this kind of initiatives are always welcome, especially when they are free!

So, what are you waiting for, just sign up for free at triyit.co.uk/

All of these products are definitely worth a try out. My favourite by far was the Jack Link’s Beef Jerky Sweet & Sour.

I’d like to thank Triyit for sending me these products for free.
