Glossybox Beauty Box April 2020 – Unboxing and Product Reviews

This month’s theme was “Blossom” and the box contained products that are meant to awaken and nourish. Great start for Spring!

This month’s box contained 5 products as always, of which all were full size.

Let’s have a look at the products in more detail. These are short reviews that cover first impressions and experiences from using the products. For full reviews, including ingredient analysis and if I would recommend a product or not, check out: Beauty In-depth Reviews & Ingredient Analysis (all articles here). Bear in mind that these are my personal opinions and that beauty is a very personal thing, we all have different skin, requirements and biological build which can influence things. What worked for me might not work for you and vice versa, please leave your comments below

Nails Inc Blossom Kisses Nail Polish

This nail varnish is so beautiful in real life but photographs very differently. The colour you see in the picture below is far from the real colour. I’ve tried many angles and light variations with no success. So I am left thinking that actually this nail varnish might not be the best choice for photography!

The colour in the picture is still beautiful but in real life this nail varnish is more like a baby pink. It works well and lasted 3 days before chipping, same as any other varnish really.

This 14mL varnish is full size, lasts 36M and retails for £11. SCORE = 7/10

Avant Skincare Gentle Rose Beautifying Face Exfoliant

I really hope beauty boxes stop including Avant products soon. I’ve received so many of them and although I will use most of them, I’d like to try something else now please? Avant products are ridiculously priced compared to the ingredients they contain.

This exfoliant worked well and left my skin smooth and soft. It contains some interesting ingredients but it is a rinse-off product so it doesn’t matter.

This 50mL tube is full size, lasts for 12M and retails for £92!

SportFx Lip Balm in Coconut

This lip balm is very discreet. It looks very simple and the packaging is plastic and a little cheap looking.

It hydrates the lips nicely but at the same time it doesn’t feel heavy or sticky. It has a gorgeous coconut scent.

It has an SPF of 15 so it is great for day wear as well, or even under/over a lipstick. It also contains vitamins and anti-oxidants to help keep your lip skin nourished, hydrated and soft. I love that this product has a cosmeceutical function and even SPF. Love, love, love.

This is a full size product which retails for £4.99. Might sound like a lot for a lip balm but the fact that it contains SPF, vitamins and anti-oxidants makes this cheap as chips. SCORE = 10/10

Rituals Cosmetics The Ritual of Sakura Shower Scrub

This clear gel contains little white beads that exfoliate. It doesn’t hurt and it leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth. However, it’s worth noting that physical exfoliation can cause some damage so it’s better to use AHA and BHA exfoliation instead.

This product contains some good ingredients although it doesn’t really matter since it’s a rinse off product. It smells incredibly gorgeous though, like a soft, milky, baby powder.

This 70mL tube is travel size, lasts for 12M and retails for £4.60. SCORE = 8/10

Hask Deep Hair Conditioner Blue Chamomile

This conditioner is aparently for blonde shades so I didn’t try it, I’m saving it for someone who will benefit from it more.

It’s a one-off use containing 50mL and it retails for £2.49. Since I didn’t try it, I won’t score it.

Overall, I liked the theme and the product selection of this month’s box. I must say though there was no wow factor product and a one use hair mask that is not best for me to use also brings it down.

Initial box score, in terms of products and first feelings = 8/10

Overall box score after product testing (average of product scores) = 7/10

Box value = £115.08

Star product = SportFx Lip Balm in Coconut
