Cohorted Beauty Box July 2020 – Unboxing and Product Reviews

The Cohorted box this month came in the standard black, square-ish box that closes with a lid. It’s actually not a perfect square, you cannot close the lid in any way you want but who cares. The box also came with it’s monthly, small beauty magazine (about 30 pages) that tells you a little bit more about each product and some featured products or artists.

Let’s have a look at the products in more detail. These are short reviews that cover first impressions and experiences from using the products. B.Tan You Glow Girl Gradual Tanning Mist

This spray is meant to give you a gradual tan. It contains better ingredients than most tanning products but I haven’t tested it so I can’t comment on whether it works or not. Don’t want a tan at the moment but if you do, tanning products tend to be safer than the sun and they might be a nice alternative to use during lockdown!

This 100mL spray lasts for 6M and retails for £12.99. Since I didn’t try it I won’t score it but I must say that it looks used, the bottle is not full and the liquid level is up to a strange point.

B.Tan Tanned AF Body Oil

Again I haven’t tried this product as I don’t want a tan at the moment. However, I must say the “tanned AF” name is not charming and it clearly targets a younger audience.

Anyhow, it is cruelty free and vegan. It contains much better ingredients than most tanning products and lasts for 6M. It retails for £14.99. Since I didn’t try it I won’t score it.

Huda Beauty Coral Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette

Nice to see an eyeshadow palette in this box, especially one from a popular brand.

This palette is very summery (reds, pinks and oranges) and it works well. I had to use other palettes to create full looks so I wouldn’t say it’s a standalone product but it’s a nice little colour boost. The colours blended well and I didn’t notice any issues like powder kick back etc.

It contains 9 shades of which 2 are shimmers and the rest matte. The ingredients are standard and it lasts for 12M. This 10g palette retails for £25. SCORE = 8/10

Jorgobé Niacinamide Serum

This serum contains Niacinamide (vitamin B3) and a few other good ingridients like hyaluronic acid. It’s very simple which is not a bad thing but it means that it is not an all rounder serum but rather an addon one if you are missing vitamin B3 for example from your skincare routine.

Nevertheless, it was pleasant to use but I didn’t really notice any difference from one use. That’s acceptable though, skincare cannot be judged from 1 use only and my skincare regime is pretty balanced anyways.

This 50mL tube lasts for 12M and retails for £23. It also comes sealed. SCORE = 8/10

Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Créme Mini

I love small lipsticks not only because they are easier to carry around but also because you can use the bullets more accurately!

This mini lipstick is super cute, works well and the colour is gorgeous. It lasts as long as other high-end good lipsticks and it’s a pleasure to use. It also doesn’t dry out the lips.

This mini is valued at £12.50. SCORE = 8/10

Anne Semolin Botanical Milk

This product works well but is very basic ingredient-wise. That’s not an issue as it’s not meant to be a skincare leave on product but it is an issue in terms of price. The £8 price for a travel size 40mL bottle (~£40 for the full size 200mL) is ridiculous and is bumbed up due to the “botanical” branding. Botanical doesn’t mean better and there are 3 ingredients contained that are potentially making this claim possible. It’s not any better than a drustore cleanser and it’s just expensively branded.

It lasts for 12M and also contains perfume. SCORE = 5/10

Anne Semolin Botanical Toner

Same story here, including price and ingredients. This product even contains a paraben if you wish to avoid them.

This toner lasts for 9M. Atleast the pH is roughly correct. SCORE = 5/10

Perfume samples

The box also contained perfume samples: Kayali by Huda Beauty and London poppy, wonderland peoony, electric rhubard, neon rose and Arizona bloom all from Floral Secret.

It’s nice to try out samples as extras as long as they don’t take the place of a product in the beauty box or count towards its value!

Cohorted July 2020 3

Overall, this month’s Cohorted wasn’t as amazing as others but still worth trying out.

Initial box score, in terms of products and first feelings = 7/10

Overall box score after product testing (average of product scores) = 6.8/10

Box value = £104.48

Star product = Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Créme Mini

  1. Mimi says:

I absolutely love Kayali perfumes, I got a sample with four fragrances in the Sephora advent calendar and I ended up buying two full sizes. I love MJ lipsticks, I have a mini too which is nice to carry around indeed but mine melted a lot so be careful in the heath 🙂
