Triyit Discovery Club August 2018 – Unboxing and Product Reviews

A couple of months have passed by and I’ve now received another Triyit box! If you missed the previous one I received click here.

Triyit is a product discovery club where you can try new products, at home, for free. It is a little bit like Influenster but Triyit is actually UK based.

Triyit August 2018 34_20180813092826761

All you need to do is go to www.triyit.co.uk and create a personal profile, where you let them know of your likes and dislikes, personal habits like exercising or what type of food you like etc. Then every now and again you will receive a free box with some goodies in it, that match some part of your profile.

Unlike Influenster, you don’t have to fill out a survey every time before qualifying for a box, your personal profile does that for you. Also, you won’t know what the box contains until you actually open it, which brings an element of excitement too.

The products contained in the box are usually full size. After trying out the products in your box you can share your reviews and pictures on social media and further qualify for more boxes. The more you share the more priority points you gain and the higher your chances to receive another one next time.

I personally love this type of concept, you get to try out new things that you wouldn’t necessarily pick up or want to pay for without knowing if you like them or not. You will get some new product favourites, some new hates too, but more importantly you will have some fun and explore new things that you might not even have know that they existed. I highly recommend you sign up, it’s free just click here.

Like before, the Triyit box arrived in an orange postal bag with a sticker of my address. As Triyit’s colour is orange you will immediately know that you just received a Triyit box but also because you would have previously already gotten a text message letting you know that there is a box on it’s way to you. Inside the postal bag, you will find the actual Triyit box which is obviously also orange. It has the Triyit logo at the top and some social media icons, the Triyit website and moto on the sides. It is a very sturdy box of good quality that you can reuse for storage or further crafts if you wish.

Inside the box there was a specific campaign booklet that contains more information about the products in this box and a reminder leaflet to share pictures and reviews.

Here’s what the booklet contained, page by page:

Once I removed some of the bed of black shredded paper, I found an envelope that contained discount offers on some of the products in the box.

Here’s some that you can use too because as Triyit says “Sharing is caring”.

The products lied under the envelope, nicely organised inside some further shredded paper. The box actually looked nicely put together and organised.

The products contained were, from left to right, as seen in the picture: alcoholic soda, roasted peas, a hair protecting primer, coconut chips and a sparkling drink.

Bear in mind that these are my personal opinions and health, fitness and taste can be very personal things as we all have different taste and biological builds. What worked for me might not work for you and vice versa. If you tried any of these products please leave your comments below!

I’d like to thank Triyit for sending me these products for free.

Crooked Beverage Co Alcoholic Soda Dayglo Skies Rasperry and Lime

Well, this can looks gorgeous! I love the design, it looks like this product has character, it definitely stands out on a shelf and will look also nice in your fridge.

This is an alcoholic soda (4.7% vol – 1.6 UK units) with natural fruit flavours, fruit juice and a lightly hopped finish. I actually liked the taste and thoroughly enjoyed it even more when it was chilled.

As it is an alcoholic beverage, you have to be over 18 to consume this product. It is low in calories (although the product doesn’t have a macro table), low in sugar, vegan friendly, contains natural ingredients and real fruit juice.

You can buy this from many stores in the UK, including Asda and Sainsburies, for £2 per 330mL can.

I loved this stuff but as a fitness-minded person I wish there was a macro table. SCORE = 9/10

Roasted Peas Paprika and Chilli

Don’t like nuts? This is a great alternative snack which is high in protein and lower in fat compared to nuts.

This roasted pea snack has a paprika and chilli flavour which I really liked. The peas are nicely seasoned and appropriately crunchy but at the same time very easy to eat. This might be the perfect addon to your nut or other snack mixtures.

This 35g bag contains 132kcals, 3.9g of fat of which 0.4g are saturates, 14g of carbohydrates of which 0.9g are sugars, 6.9g of fiber, 6.7g of protein and 0.5g of salt.

This snack is vegan and grown in the UK. You can buy a bag from Ocado for £1.19. SCORE = 9/10

Karine Jackson and the Beauty Kitchen The Protector Priming Treatment

This is a multi-purpose primer for hair which is meant to strengthen, enhance, prepare and protect your hair from daily pollution. This essentially means that this is a styling hair product that contains anti-oxidants.

It comes with a pump that is very easy to use and all you need to do is apply sparingly to fine hair or more generously to thicker hair from root to tip. You can use it as a pre-wash mask or pre-style product and towel dry your hair.

Karine Jackson and the Beauty Kitchen create natural, organic and vegetarian hair care products. This product in particular is 100% natural and apparently scientifically proven to deliver 7 benefits: colour and heat protection, UV-shield, pollution defense, structure repair, deep moisture and mirror shine.

As a Chemist I’m very skeptical as to the extent that this type of products actually UV shield your hair. Nothing against this product specifically, I said this for other hair care UV protection products too. If you think of how much sunscreen you actually need to get a good amount of SPF protection (it’s more than what you are using), I wonder if the tiny amount of hair styling product you are going to use on your hair will actually truly and fully protect all of your hair from UV and pollution. I would expect you will need a lot more product for that, which would likely mean that your hair would look very greasy.

Anyhow, this product is a white cream that is very easy to use and has an intense spearmint scent. I personally didn’t think that the packaging and design was appropriate for the product, it reminded me of gym products rather than hair care.

This product is appropriate for all hair types and lasts for 6M. You can buy this 50mL product from Holland & Barrett for £14 and a second one for a penny! SCORE = 7/10

Urban Fruit Straight Up Coconut Chips

Well if you read any of my previous posts you know that I don’t like coconut. The flavour is just not for me, so I didn’t particularly like this snack. However, that’s just personal taste, this snack can be a good option if you like coconut.

It is essentially coconut chips that have been sprinkled with a little sea salt and coconut water and that’s it. They are triple toasted, never fried and all natural.

If you like coconut this is a vegan friendly and gluten free snack. A 25g bag contains 118kcals, 10.4g of fat of which 9.0g are saturates, 3.7g of carbohydrates of which 3.57g are sugars, 6.25g of fibre, 1.25g of protein and 0.25g of salt.

I really like the way the packaging looks, it definitely stands out and the bag feels of high quality. You can buy this snack from Sainsburys for £0.80. Not a bad price! SCORE = 8/10

The Berry Company Acai Lightly Sparkling with Guarana and Yerba Mate

This is a berry drink with Guarana and Yerba Mate that will not break your fitness goals.

One 250mL can will provide you with 55kcals, 1.25g of fat of which <0.25g are saturates, 13.75g of carbohydrates of which 12g are sugars, <0.25g of protein and traces of salt.

The stats are good, this drink is definitely low in calories but if you are controlling your sugar intake be aware that there are 12g of it in this drink. That’s roughly about 4-5 teaspoons of sugar but it is at least natural from the fruit.

I personally wasn’t a big fan of this, mainly because I don’t like the Yerba Mate taste but if you do then give this drink a try. This product is suitable for vegetarians.

I love the way the can looks, I love the colours, the font, the design in general. It looks well put together and it does stand out on a shelf. SCORE = 7/10

Triyit August 2018 33_20180813102715257

Initial box score, in terms of products and first feelings = 9/10

Overall box score after product testing (a sum of product scores) = 8/10

Star product = Roasted Peas Paprika and Chilli
